Provar Automation Features and Enhancements

Japanese Language Support

We are excited to announce the latest update, which includes significant enhancements to Japanese language support within our platform. This update aims to improve accessibility and usability. Find more information here. Users can create and execute tests in Japanese language in a Salesforce Org for the following:

  • Standard Lightning
  • Lightning Flexi pages
  • Visualforce components
  • Publisher Actions(Lightning, Classic Sales, and Console)
  • CPQ
  • FSL
  • Custom Org
  • NitroX
  • Dynamic Form and Einstein Search

Note: NitroX test cases created in other languages (English org) may or may not work on the Japanese org. Test cases must be created and executed on the Japanese org.

Salesforce Jars Upgrade

We have updated the revised jars following the Salesforce Summer ’24 Release (version 61.0) for use in future releases.

Summer ‘24 List Views Compatibility

This release is compatible with the recent List View changes for Custom Objects, which affected navigation and interactions on List View screens. These changes are due to the URL and DOM updates from Salesforce. We recommend using this release if your tests include scenarios involving List Views in Summer ‘24.

Consolidated Test Execution Reports and CLI Execution

The new Consolidate test reports functionality on the Export Test Run page enables QA leads to compile several test execution reports into a comprehensive report of a fully successful test cycle for stakeholders. Users can pick multiple open test runs and choose whether to provide the most recent test case result or all test case results. This streamlined process improves report clarity and streamlines the presentation of testing results to stakeholders, resulting in a more efficient and informative review. Find more information here.

Table Header Interactions

Provar users can now map table headers (for example, RL/LV) by directly right-clicking on the header item, including click,, checkbox interactions. This upgrade corrects the prior limitation in which header text or checkboxes could not be mapped using the context menu options. Users may now quickly add header mappings via right-click, assuring proper mapping presentation in Test Builder (TB) and support for both UI Assert and Actions. Existing scripts remain unchanged, with constant step information and execution.

License Key Encryption

License keys will be encrypted to prevent unauthorized access and tampering, maintaining the security of sensitive data. This applies to all interfaces and execution modes, including UI, ANT, ProvarDx, and Grid, and does not require re-entry or further validation for existing valid keys. Users may easily edit license keys in the Provar UI, and all legacy functionality is unaffected, ensuring no performance or stability issues.

  • If a user opts to encrypt their license key upon re-entry, it will not be validated in previous Provar versions. To resolve this, revert to an unencrypted format by deleting the encrypted key and adding it anew in earlier releases.

Toggle Button for NitroX on Test Builder

Users can now quickly toggle the NitroX capability on and off from the Test Builder (TB) interface. When “On,” the NitroX features are active; when “Off,” they are disabled, and the current state is displayed.  Changing the toggle state generates a message that hides or shows the NitroX setting button.

Provar Manager Features & Enhancements

With Provar Manager version 3.5.0, the following features and enhancements are now available:

  • Leverage AI to assist you in writing test plans
  • Ask any Provar-related question to the Provar Assistant, accessible from the utility bar
  • Linking issues with each other is easier now
  • Manually consolidate or merge test cycles
  • Added support for inline editing test execution status from the test cycle view

AI-Assisted Test Plan Creation

We introduce an AI Assistant to aid testers in creating effective test plans. The Test Plan Progress Tracker now shows completion percentages for each tab and has a new “Assistant” button. The AI Assistant walks users through each element of the test plan, offering rich-text inputs, examples, and AI-generated ideas for System Overview, Objectives, Scope, Test Environments, Assumptions and Constraints, Test Approach, Test Data Strategy, and more.

Provar Assistant Integration

Users can now access Provar Assistant directly from within Provar Manager using the utility bar at the bottom of the screen. Users are automatically connected to Provar Assistant, which allows users to receive support and guidance without leaving the app.

Issue Linking

Project managers can now link issues more efficiently. A single UI component has been introduced. The user will see a new button to link issues only for Provar projects, eliminating the need to create records, saving time manually, and simplifying linking issues.

Test Cycle Consolidation

Testers can, now, combine test cycles into one, ensuring that related testing efforts are organized. Users can consolidate Test Cycles by clicking the “Consolidate” button on a Test Cycle record and selecting a target Test Cycle from the same test plan and environment. The target Test Cycle will be updated with the most recent data and executions from both cycles based on matching criteria such as Test Case, Browser, Browser Version, Display Resolution, and Operating System.

Inline Test Execution Status Change

Testers can now modify the status of a single test execution on a Test Cycle record by selecting it from the Test Executions list. This eliminates the need to choose the record and perform the change status action, resulting in more efficient test execution management.

Provar Grid Feature & Enhancement

Scenarios Status Reporting

Project Managers can now see a summary of the test scenarios executed for each Test Plan Schedule job. The feature offers information about the produced VMs, such as the number of platform types spun up and a list of scenarios running on each VM, including file path, browser, and version. Users can quickly discern difficulties based on browser/platform combinations, and statuses can be renewed automatically every 5 seconds or manually, with the most recent refresh time displayed on the screen for reference.

Platform Updates

Browser Compatibility Updates

As part of our pre-release testing, we have confirmed that Automation v2.13.2 is compatible with Chrome version 126.

Why is this important?

Ensuring that Automation v2.13.2 includes ChromeDriver 126 and is compatible with Chrome 126 eliminates the risk of incompatibility issues, which could prevent test cases from working as expected.

How can I use this?

If you want to start using Chrome 126, we recommend upgrading to Provar Automation v2.13.2, which will use ChromeDriver 126 out of the box.

Automation will automatically attempt to download the correct ChromeDriver if it detects a driver exception. If your organization’s security protocols block the automatic download, you can manually override the ChromeDriver.

To downgrade or revert the ChromeDriver, refer to this support article that explains how to use a ChromeDriver that differs from the one provided by default in your Provar Automation installation.

Zephyr Integration Authentication Upgrade

We have upgraded Zephyr integration to improve security by changing the authentication technique and fixing a weakness in Connect2id Nimbus JOSE+JWT (before version 7.9) that might lead to application crashes, information exposure, or authentication bypass issues. All legacy and new Zephyr connections and functions will continue to operate as usual.

End of Life for Legacy Formatted Editors

We have removed support for the legacy FX formatted editors and entirely switched to ADF JavaScript editors. This will facilitate a simpler Java migration to Java 17, lower installer sizes, and minimize reliance on Eclipse FX and JavaFX plugins. Additionally, AWS expenses will be reduced by freeing up resources to host the FX library. All legacy editor content is unharmed, and exported PDFs function normally, ensuring no user effect.
