Database Testing Setup
The first step in testing a database is to add a Database Connection.
Once created, these details will be saved in the Connections tab within Test Settings. Information in the database can be viewed and acted upon via the Org Browser. Refer to Database Operations for more information on the available actions.
Adding a Database Connection (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or DB2)
To add a new Database Connection, navigate to the Test Settings view and click the + (
Enter a Connection Name and Description, then specify the database as the Connection Type. As a subtype, select Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or DB2. (Note that DB2 is available for Provar version 1.9.7 and later.)
Enter the other information as follows:
- Host Name (e.g., localhost)
- Port Number (e.g., 1433)
- Database (Name), Service, SID or Database and Schema (depending on database type – see below for examples)
- User
- Password

Once the details have been entered, click the Test Connection button to verify the details are correct:

Once you have created your Database connection, you can initiate testing from the Database Browser in the following ways:
- Drag Database data rows into the Query window to generate SQL and execute
- Drag Data or tables into the Test Case to create Test Steps
