Import Test Project from Local Repository

Last Modified:

The Test Project collects all your test-related data, including test cases and Connections.

You must have a Test Project set up before creating or running any test cases in Automation.

Before creating a test project, you’ll need to have a workspace. If you do not have the Provar Launcher window and need to create a new workspace or select a different workspace, visit the File Menu and select Switch Workspace.

Create a name for your workspace and select Launch.

If you have an existing local repository and are working with Git, ensure that you already have the relevant repository in your local file system and know its location. This could be done by cloning the repository in advance, creating it from scratch or copying it from another location.

Click Import from Source Control on the Welcome to Provar screen.

Select Import from Git on the next page.

This will display the Select Repository Source screen. Select Existing local repository and click Next >.

To select a repository, start by clicking on the Add button.

On the next screen, specify the directory of your local repository. You can Browse and click Search to trigger a scan for Git repositories contained in that directory. If Git repositories are found, they will be listed in the search results box. Select the checkbox next to one or more repositories and click Add when finished.

With any repositories selected, click Next > to continue.

On the next screen, select the desired import process. The default option, Import existing Eclipse projects, is recommended. Click Next >  to continue.

The next screen will display the available Test Projects in the repository. Confirm your selections and click Finish to import.

Repository files will be loaded into the Provar Automation test project workspace.

To switch to a working branch:

Once you have cloned the Project from the remote repository, consider whether you need to create a new branch for your work. This will depend on the workflow your team is following.
