Hardware and Software Recommendations

This page lists the hardware, software and operating systems supported by Provar Automation. Check these before you install.

Hardware

• 16 GB RAM is recommended. The minimum is 8 GB.
• At least 5 GB of free disk space.
• A dual-core or quad-core processor, depending on how many processes run on the machine.
• A stable network connection.

Software Prerequisites

These apply to both Provar Studio and Provar CLI, on every operating system below.

• Java 21.
• A recent version of Google Chrome or Edge Chromium. A Chromium browser is strongly recommended, because it gives you access to the Test Builder, an application that lets you build UI tests quickly from the Web Application.
• Git command line tools.(Optional)

Provar CLI	Any Windows Server version	Supported when the prerequisites are met

Supported Mac Versions

Provar CLI	Any macOS version	Supported when the prerequisites are met

Supported Linux Versions

Linux is supported for CLI execution only.

Provar CLI	Ubuntu	Supported. Running directly on the latest Ubuntu release is not tested
Provar CLI, Docker	provartesting/ant-cli	Recommended for CI/CD. Pre-configured with Java 21, Apache Ant, Chrome and Firefox

GUI support is not available for linux

Note: Other operating system versions may work, but they have not been explicitly tested.
