Automation V3: Gearset Integration with Provar Manager

Gearset Integration with Provar Manager

This guide walks you through setting up the Gearset + Provar Manager integration to connect Gearset CI Jobs with Provar Test Plan Schedules for streamlined DevOps and automated testing workflows.

Prerequisites

  • Valid Gearset license
  • Provar Manager version 3.15.0 or later

Integration Options

You can integrate Gearset with Provar Manager using:

  1. Gearset’s built-in UI support for Provar Manager (recommended if managing from Gearset UI)
  2. Outgoing webhooks from Gearset CI Jobs (if preferred)

Setup Steps

1. Create a Gearset API Access Token

Used for authentication between Gearset and Provar Manager.

2. Install the Gearset Plugin in Provar Manager

Install via the Provar Manager Marketplace within your Salesforce org.

3. Assign Permission Sets

Assign the “Provar Manager – Gearset Plugin” permission set to users who need access.

4. Configure Integration Settings

  • Set and save your Gearset API key
  • Enable optional automatic syncing of CI job statuses
  • Adjust polling intervals as needed

Using the Integration

Adding Gearset CI Jobs

  • Copy the Job ID from Gearset
  • Add it to Provar Manager using the “Add Gearset Job” interface
  • Optionally link to a Provar Test Plan Schedule (can be updated later)

Linking to Test Plan Schedules

  • Link jobs to active Test Plan Schedules using the UI
  • Successful Gearset jobs can trigger Provar Test Plan Schedules automatically

Monitoring & Management

  • Trigger or cancel Gearset CI Jobs directly from Provar Manager
  • View and refresh job statuses via polling or manual refresh
  • Sync status, last run info, and connection settings are available in the UI

Job Run History

  • Each triggered job creates a Gearset CI Job Run
  • Runs are linked to corresponding Provar Test Plan Schedule Jobs
  • Job history and test results are viewable in Provar Manager
  • Supports filtering, manual refresh, and navigation to job run records

Benefits

  • Visibility into the relationship between CI job success and automated testing
  • Real-time tracking of deployment/test outcomes
  • Enables creation of dashboards for DevOps + Testing metrics in Provar Manager
