Automation V3: Content Synchronization

Overview

Content Synchronization ensures that the item you are working on in the Editor always stays aligned with its corresponding node in the Test Case Tree.

In complex test cases with long and deeply nested structures, locating the correct element in the tree could often be difficult and time-consuming. This feature removes that challenge by automatically keeping the Editor and the Tree in sync, allowing you to stay focused on your work rather than on navigation.

Previously, when editing a test step or component, the Editor displayed the correct content, but the Test Case Tree did not automatically focus on the associated item. Users had to manually search through long hierarchies to find the correct node, which slowed down navigation and increased cognitive effort. This made error tracing, test analysis, and general movement within large test cases more tedious and less efficient.

Benefit

With Content Synchronization enabled, the Tree structure automatically highlights and scrolls to the correct item whenever you switch focus in the Editor. This ensures that you always know exactly where the active item sits in the hierarchy. As a result, navigation becomes faster, more intuitive, and far less error-prone, especially when dealing with multiple files or complex structures.

When to Use Content Synchronization

Content Synchronization is particularly useful in the following scenarios:

  • When working with long or deeply nested test case hierarchies in the tree.
  • When opening test cases using Find Usage, locating the referenced item can otherwise take time.
  • When opening multiple test cases, Test Plans, or files such as Page Objects, where maintaining context across different resources is important.
