Summer '25 Release 1

Executive Summary

We’re excited to announce the latest enhancements to the Provar product suite with our Summer ’25 Release 1. You can download and install Summer ’25 Release 1 directly from the Provar Success Portal

Summer ‘25 Salesforce Release Changes

ChangesDetails
New Search Field Available for ListsOne of the visible changes in Summer ’25 is the introduction of a new search field for Lists while selecting the List Type. This enhances usability but also brings changes to the implementation of the List Type selection screen, which can affect coded automation. However, Provar is fully compatible with these changes. Existing automation scripts will continue to work without requiring any updates.
Dom Changes  in Activity TimelineIn Summer ’25, there are DOM changes related to the title or subject field of items in the Activity Timeline. These changes affect how the title value is populated in automation scripts. Provar has already provided compatibility for this update, so existing scripts remain functional. However, if your scripts rely on custom locators, you may need to make adjustments.
DOM Changes for Blank Column Values in ListsSummer ’25 introduces DOM changes for empty values in list columns, including the addition of LWC properties alongside the DOM elements. These changes can impact automation scripts that rely on the previous DOM structure. Provar remains compatible with this update, and scripts will continue to work without modifications. That said, any custom page object locators depending on the old DOM may require updates.
Metadata change on Case Merge ScreenMetadata changes in Summer ’25 affect the Case Merge screen, specifically altering the label and identifier for the “Last Modified Date” field, which is now shown as ‘Last Modified’ in the metadata instead of ‘Last Modified Date’. These changes can cause test failures. Provar has ensured compatibility with this update, so existing automation scripts will work as expected without needing any changes.
Advanced Search Screens: Metadata Changes for TablesAdvanced Search screens (previously known as Lookup screens) have seen metadata discrepancies across different search implementations in Summer ’25. These discrepancies between metadata and UI rendering may impact automation scripts. Provar has addressed this compatibility gap, ensuring that existing Provar scripts continue to work without requiring updates.
Metadata changes FSL Objects’ Home ScreenIn Summer 25, Several objects in FSL, such as Service Appointment, Work Order, and Product Request, have received metadata updates in their respective Home Screens. These updates primarily involve changes to the column values in both metadata and the UI. Provar is compatible with these changes in Summer ’25. If your automation relies on custom locators, they may require some adjustment.

Summer ‘25 CPQ Compatibility

Provar is now compatible with Salesforce CPQ Summer ‘25 (v256) as part of the latest release alignment. This update ensures that existing Provar test scripts continue to work seamlessly with the new CPQ version, while maintaining compatibility with previous versions. With this enhancement, users can confidently achieve comprehensive test coverage for CPQ use cases across both current and legacy environments.

Provar Automation Features and Enhancements

Post Lead Convert Screen

Provar now supports mapping of the post-lead conversion screen, enabling users to create test cases that include this transitional view. Users can map all object cards, Account, Contact, and Opportunity , along with their respective fields. Footer buttons like “New Task” and “Go to Leads” are also supported for mapping and execution. This enhancement ensures comprehensive test coverage for the full lead conversion flow.

Enhanced Salesforce Element Identifier

In this release we enhanced the Salesforce element identifier by removing non-robust attributes and properties from the locator for improved stability and robustness.

Assert Layout Now Supports Long Record Type Names

We’ve resolved an issue where Assert Layout failed if a Record Type Name exceeded 31 characters. This was due to Excel’s limitation on worksheet name length, which caused sheet name collisions during layout extraction.

With this fix, layout assertions will now work correctly—even with long Record Type Names.

Layout Extraction Now Works With Special Characters

We’ve fixed a bug that caused layout extraction to fail if a Record Type Name included special characters like \ / * [ ] : ?. These are restricted in Excel sheet names.

Provar now handles these cases automatically so your tests run smoothly—no matter the Record Type Name.

Excel Write Step Now Writes Immediately After Header

We’ve corrected an issue where the Excel Write step began writing from the third row, leaving the second row blank. Now, data starts correctly in row 2, just below the header—exactly as expected.

Correct Count Returned For Single Excel Records

We fixed an issue where the count function returned the wrong value when reading a single row from Excel. Now, even a single record is treated as a list, ensuring the count is always accurate.

Intermittent Execution Failures on Selenium Grid 3

We’ve resolved an issue where test execution on Selenium Grid 3 was intermittently failing with errors such as ChromeDriver exceptions and NullPointerExceptions, depending on the system configuration.

If you’re using Java 21, we recommend updating to this release to ensure full compatibility with Selenium Grid 3.

Browser Compatibility Updates

As part of our pre-release testing, we have confirmed that Automation v2.16.1 is fully compatible with Chrome version 136.

Why is this important?

Including ChromeDriver 136 in Automation v2.16.1 and ensuring compatibility with Chrome 136 helps eliminate the risk of incompatibility issues that could otherwise impact the proper functioning of test cases.

How can I use this?

If you plan to use Chrome 136, we recommend upgrading to Provar Automation v2.16.1, which includes ChromeDriver 136 by default.

Automation will automatically attempt to download the correct ChromeDriver if it detects a driver exception. If your organization’s security protocols prevent the automatic download, you can manually override the ChromeDriver.

To downgrade or use a different version of ChromeDriver, refer to this support article, which explains how to configure a ChromeDriver other than the default one provided in your Provar Automation installation.
